Clara Lee Barnes

Clara Lee Barnes was the daughter of the late William Barnes and Carrie Bernice Shoulders-Barnes. Clara was born on June 21, 1944. She is preceded in death by her son Archie L. Barnes, sisters Reva B. Williams, Josephine Barnes, and Mary Ann Barnes. Clara was a joy to be around! She had a deep love for her family & friends and would do anything she could for anyone. Her heart and the door to her home were always open and rest assured, if you came to visit Clara, you didn't leave empty handed. She was an AMAZING cook! Her homemade pickles, jacks, fruitcake, beef ribs, and chicken pot pie were just a few of her best- and well-known dishes. As a matter of fact, if you asked someone who enjoyed eating Clara's food what was the best thing she cooked, the answer would be ... EVERYTHING! Of all the things that Clara loved, her greatest love was for her God, Jehovah and his son, Jesus Christ. As Clara learned about Jehovah, his son Jesus, God's Kingdom, and what that Kingdom would do for obedient mankind based on God's Word the Bible, she made the decision to dedicate her life to Jehovah and got baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 10, 2004. Her love for Jehovah motivated her to tell all that she met about him. And even in her illness, she remained focused on God's Kingdom and continued to tell others about it, confident that Jehovah was always there to support her and that soon she would enjoy life in perfect health, forever! Clara leaves to cherish her memories: her children; Daryl Barnes of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and Cheryl Barnes, of Eugen, Oregon; her sisters; Carrie Barnes of Seaboard, North Carolina, and Mamie Banks of Jackson, North Carolina; her brothers; William McKinley Barnes of Norfolk, Virginia; John Barnes (Vivian), Jesse Barnes (Elsie), and Thomas Barnes all of Seaboard, North Carolina, Sam Barnes (Rethella) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Perry Barnes of Jackson, North Carolina, Jerry Barnes of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina, and Terry Barnes of Tacoma, Washington; two grandchildren, Balitra Slade of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Carlos Slade of Aulander, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; one uncle, Sam Shoulders of Norfolk, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
