Deacon Karl Jonathan Holley Sr

On January 31, 2020, Karl Jonathan Holley answered God's call and peacefully transitioned to eternal rest. He was born August 31, 1964 to Sarah G. Holley and the late Edward Holley in Mapleton, North Carolina. Karl was a 1982 graduate from Murfreesboro High in 1982. He was united in holy matrimony with Paula Pruden Holley on October 20, 1989, and to this union four children were born. He and Paula lived and raised their family in Wiinton, North Carolina. Karl was a loving husband and father. Karl accepted Christ into his life at a young age and joined Parker's Grove Baptist Church in Mapleton, North Carolina. In 2009, Karl joined his family as a member of New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon from December 18, 2016 until his death. He was also Sunday School Superintendent, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Missionary Ministry. After high school, Karl served five years in the United States Army. He later attended Central Carolina Community College, studying Motorcycle Mechanics where he graduated with an Associates Degree in 2011. He was currently attending Triple "C" Bible College, where he would have obtained his Associate Degree in Ministry in May of this year. Karl worked for Union Camp/International Paper, Nucor, and the Town of Ahoskie. He was employed by the Town of Ahoskie until his early retirement, because of illness. He was preceded in death by his son, Pruden Holley and his father Edward Holley. Karl leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Paula; one daughter, Karla S. Holley of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sons; Kaleb J. Holley and Karl J. Holley, Jr. both of Raleigh, North Carolina; his mother, Sarah G. Holley of Mapleton, North Carolina; seven brothers, Gary Holley, George Holley, Tony Holley, and Melvin Holley (Tammy) all of Mapleton, North Carolina, Mark Holley (Vanessa) of Weeki Wachee, Florida, Sam Holley of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Ray Everette (Angela) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Ava Closs of Raleigh, North Carolina and Vivian Holley of Wake Forest, North Carolina; his mother and father-in-law, Fannie and Paul Pruden of Mapleton, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Laverne Gray of Como, North Carolina and Gillian Boone of Mechanicsville, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Paul Pruden, Jr. (Keischa) of Ahoskie, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
