Ava Chavis Hall Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ava Chavis Hall was born April 15, 1920 to the late Herman Chavis and Madgie King Chavis in Hertford County, North Carolina. Ava was the 7th of 14 children, all of whom preceded her in death. Ava transitioned peacefully into eternal glory on February 24, 2019. Ava attended Robert L Vann and was the first of the 14 children to graduate in 1938. She continued her education and graduated from Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, as a certified nursing assistant. Ava was united in holy matrimony to William Leon Hall, Sr. on February 25, 1941. After 27 years of marriage, Leon transitioned into his eternal glory. Together their love was Blessed with 3 beautiful children, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. Ava was the consummate homemaker who absolutely loved her home. She showed great pride in cutting her grass and taking care of her flowers, as well as spending time sitting on her back porch watching soap operas. Ava leaves to cherish her memory: three children William Leon Hall Jr. (Carol), C. Lowell Hall (Mona), and Ava L. Burden (Kenneth); 7 grandchildren, Mark D. Hall (Jennifer), Donna Hall Reeves (George), Dawn vanderZweep(Jeff), Mark Jackson ( Lorita), Jonathan Larmarr Cruse Jr. (Makiesa), Jennifer Cruse, and Calpernia Burden; 10 great-grandchildren, Elliot Hall, Mia Reeves, Noah Reeves, Ethan vanderZweep, Ava Dawn vanderZweep, Eric Cruse, Montrell Cruse (Jasmen), Zacharie Jackson Ogide (godspower), Cori Cruse, Quinton Cruse; 1 great-great granddaughter, Ava Lynn Cruse; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She was also blessed with a very special friend that proceeded her in death James L. Faulcon. A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery in Ahoskie, NC at 11:00 AM on February 28, 2019
