Howard Grant Jr.

Howard Grant, Jr. was born in Conway, North Carolina, on March 2, 1935, to the late Ethel Lee Stephenson and Cortie Howard Grant, Sr. The Angel of the Lord touched him during the early morning hours of Monday, March 9, 2020, and Howard surrendered his soul unto the Lord. Howard joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he remained faithful until recent months when his health declined. Howard met Ernestine Scott Grant and they married on December 21, 1960, sharing 52 years together. To this union they had four daughters: Patricia, Carolyn (Thornton, Sr.), Adrienne, and Tashia (Courtney, Sr.). God allowed their fruit to multiply, and they were blessed with 10 grandchildren: Felita, Al’Teria, Thornton, Kadajah (Dondago), Marques, Judy, Danzel, Brieana, Ashanti and Jaden. God continued to increase their lineage with 8 great grandchildren: Kaneesha, Courtney, Jr., Curtis, Iyonna, Dondago III, Cameron, Kali, Ava and two which are due to be born within a few months, Carmen and Zuri. Howard leaves to cherish his memories his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also leaves the second love of his life, Mrs. Flora Brown; his brothers Fred (Betty) of NC and Donald (Acquanetta) of PA; five sister-in-laws, Florine of SC, Rebecca of NC, Annie (Edward) and Olivia, both of NY, and Ethel (Willie) of MN; two brothers-in-law, Tommie (Shirley) of NJ, and George (Dot) of CT; and one aunt-in-law, Helen of NC. Howard also has many children that he adopted and called his daughters or granddaughters (Denise, Nancy, Krissy, Angel, and Ashanti Sweat). Howard also leaves to cherish his memory two very special cousins, Charles (Pete) Grant of VA and Ben Stephenson, NC along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
