Mary Elizabeth Isaac

Mary Elizabeth Isaac known as "Liz" to her family, was born on May 10, 1942, to the late Hugh Buster Britt and Jennie Mae Gibbons Britt in Hertford County, North Carolina. Mary joined Mill Neck Baptist Church of Como, North Carolina at an early age. After graduation, she moved to New York and later settled in Washington, DC. In 19 82, she joined and was a founding member of The Yoruba Temple. She was a member until the transition of Mother Pamela Taylor. On August 25, 2013, she became a member of Imani Temple African American Catholic Church. She loved her church and her bishop. She helped when asked, and was always willing to help anyone that needed assistance. Mary attended Cortez Peters Training Academy where she studied fashion design. She had a flare for designing and creating her own creations. This was her passion and a hobby for her. Mary was employed by The United States Postal Service where she worked for 52 years, starting as a clerk and rising to the position of supervisor, before retirement. She married the late John C. Isaac and to this union, one daughter, Shalita V. Isaac was born. Mary leaves to cherish his fond memory: Shalita V Isaac of the home; one grandson that she loved with all her heart, Quary' Shon "Kwame" Pittman, of the home; one aunt, Nettie Pope of Como, North Carolina, that she loved to visit; three goddaughters, Deborah Johnson, Ayanna Johnson and Gwendolyn Alexander of Maryland; one godson, Gregory Orkie of Maryland, three brothers, Hugh Lee Britt of Como, North Carolina, the late William Britt, and Michael Sears of Washington, DC; three sisters; Zelma Jene Evbron of Kaunderhill, Florida, Zenora Sears of Washington, DE, and the late Shirley Dickey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends
