Rosa Fennell Afful "Pookie"

September 14, 1965 - January 11, 2021

Rosa Fennell Afful, affectionately known as "Pookie", was born on September 14, 1965, to the late Melvin McKinley Fennell, Sr. and Rosetta Long Fennell. Rosa departed her life on January 11, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. Rosa joined Nebo Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, at an early age. Rosa attended Hertford County Public Schools in Hertford County, North Carolina. She later moved to Delaware, Maryland to pursue a career as a truck driver which later became her passion for four years. She worked at Perdue in Lewiston, North Carolina for five years before relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was employed at Walmart for 20 years until her health failed her. Rosa loved her family and friends. She was a sweet and compassionate young lady. Everyone who knew Rosa loved her. She had a sweet spirit and a beautiful personality. She had unconditional love for her family and friends. When the Lord sweetly whispered her name, Rosa answered the call. Rosa was preceded in death by her father, Melvin McKinley Fennell, Sr.; her mother, Rosetta Long Fennell; her grandmother, Clara Long; her brother-in-law, Alexander Lee; and nephew, Alexander Lee, II, and seven aunts and uncles. Rosa leaves to cherish her memory: her fiance, Joseph Lassiter of Ahoskie, North Carolina; one sister, Brenda Lee (Alexander, deceased) of Aulander, North Carolina; two brothers, Melvin Fennell (Angela) of Ahoskie, North Carolina, and Dennis Fennell (Karen) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one aunt, of Newport News, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins and friends.
