Elaine Fleetwood

Elaine Fleetwood, daughter of Arthur L. and Shirley C. Fleetwood was born on December 8, 1957, in Murfreesboro, North Carolina and transitioned to be with the Lord on Monday, July 4, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Laine, as she was so affectionately called by many friends and family, received her formal education in the Hertford County Public School System. After High School, she attended Elizabeth City State University for post-secondary studies and later attended Liberty University where she completed her master*s in counseling. Prior to relocating to Georgia, Laine, was employed by the Hertford County Public School System for 13 years and 5 months as Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of Public Schools. While in Georgia, she was employed as a Palliative Care Counselor at the Atrium Health Navicent, the Medical Center in Macon, Georgia and was an 8-year active member of the Renegade Book Club. Laine accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord. Knowing that her labor was not in vain, Laine worked with diligence, eagerness, and adoration for the sake of the kingdom and her final church membership affiliation was with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, where she remained a very active, faithful, and strong soldier until the Lord called her home. During her tenure at Beulah, she served in the following auxiliaries: New Members Intake Committee Chair, Member of the Board of Christian Education, Women's Ministry, Greeter, Maggie Howard Circle (mission), and James Freeman Usher Board. Laine was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Shirley Fleetwood and her brother, Robert Lee Fleetwood. Laine leaves to cherish her memories, a god daughter: Amiya Eure who resides in Ahoskie, North Carolina: one brother, Terry Fleetwood (Gwen) of Suffolk, Virginia; one sister, Fanny Fleetwood Alston of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; one nephew: Lorance Cortez Lassiter; two nieces: Christa Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina and Terryca Bynum of Durham, North Carolina; one uncle: Fred Lee Vaughan (Ann) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; three aunts: Ida Mae Worthington of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Sarah Hinton and Sharon Worthington of Newport News, Virginia; and a host of cousins and friends.
